I’m Just a Woman that Found the Healing Power in Making Others Smile.
As children, we laughed automatically almost hundreds of times per day. As we age, we tend to take life more seriously and laugh less often. However, laughing in the face of stress, anxiety, and sadness triggers an immediate emotional and physical release that helps us feel at ease, relaxed, and less anxious. In work, I have observed that humor in the combination of traditional therapy has magical healing benefits; laughter helps you face the serious stuff from a place of power, positivity, and relaxation.
My name is Mikah Miller, and I created my therapy style to take a different and more creative approach to therapy. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience, I have worked with people of all ages who struggle with a range of personal and family issues. Through my work, I have seen first-hand how the use of humor in sessions has not only aided in strengthening rapport but also increasing influence; improving the client’s commitment to change, and strengthening communication.
I believe a bit of laughter can go a long way. Laughter releases anxiety changes our perception and helps us cope. With therapy, it is often not enough to simply understand our issues. By using laughter in my counseling approach in sessions and outside of session on my social media post, people learn an easy and immediate tool for tackling stress, relationship issues, anxiety, and more. By following me on Social Media, they’ll discover how Therapy can be an essential tool for breaking down their conditioned scripts and beliefs and learn ways to cope and embrace a new way of being!
